PTA Information

Who we are

Manorcroft PTA help to support the school by fund raising through a range of different activities and helping to build a sense of community.

As a new parent to the school, you are automatically a member of the PTA and you can get involved as much or as little as you like. It is a great way to get to know other parents and have a say in how we fundraise and support our school.

We are a very friendly, welcoming, fun and sociable team and would love to hear from you - whether you’d like to become part of the committee, help out at one of our events, have fundraising ideas or simply want to find out more about what we do.

How the PTA works

The Committee

  • The Committee is voted in at the Annual General Meeting at the beginning of the Autumn term
  • The following posts need to be filled as part of our charitable status -  Chair, Deputy, Treasurer and Secretary and we can have up to 11 committee members
  • Meets monthly (or more frequently in the run up to large events)
  • Meetings are generally held in the Koosa Room or the pub and include committee members and school representation and last about 90mins.
  • Items for discussion generally resolve around voting on fundraising requests, event updates and planning

 

Friends of the PTA

  • We have friends of the PTA who are interested in fundraising etc but don’t want to formally be on the Committee
  • We have an email distribution list and communicate that way for event updates and if we need volunteers

 

Parents and Carers

  • Support the school through volunteering to either help at events or attending events
  • Volunteers for events generally comes through face book requests or parentmails

 

What we do

In 2017-8 we had a busy year and raised £9,000. We have highlighted below just some of the events we have put on, money raised and what we have purchased.

  • We contributed £10,000 to the new Gazebo (above) which should be ready soon to enhance outdoor learning

  • Leavers T-Shirts and autograph books                    
 

This year

So far, we have been asked to help fund the following so every event you attend or contribute to will help us with this:

  • Development of outside space for Y1 which fits with the School Development Plan                         for outside spaces – all offers of help to undertake some of the physical work                          £500 appreciated
  • Classroom flipcharts to enhance whole class and group teaching across all                      curriculum subjects and allow teachers to easily create resources for learning                       £1400  walls and intervention activities
  • Travelling pantomime – whole school enrichment                                                                            £900
  • Enrichment/science week materials                                                                                                    £300
  • World book day – authors to attend and speak to children                                                              £900
  • Christmas Lunch                                                                                                                                      £250
  • Y6 Leavers items                                                                                                                                      £900
