Together we care, enjoy, challenge and achieve

Being a Governor

As a Governing Body we meet together at least once per term.

Each governor is a member of one or more committees.

The Committees, Teaching & Learning, Resources, and Finance, meet regularly once a term, but may also meet on an ad-hoc basis to address any urgent issues which may arise.

Each term, normally in the second half, governors meet together for a Full Governing Body Meeting. This is the formal statutory business meeting.

Governor's  Committees and Working Groups are the mechanism for allowing governors to get to grips with certain areas of their work and the life of the school in far more detail than is practical at Full Governing Body meetings.

The performance of the Governing Body is reviewed as part of OFSTED inspections and they are expected to clearly understand their role and responsibilities, build productive relationships with school leaders and know their school well in relation to the roles described above.

The Governors bring a variety of skills from business, finance, IT and many other areas to aid school management.

The Governors are not paid for their work, and at Manorcroft they do not receive any allowances for costs they incur in fulfilling their duties.
